What happens when an entire city devotes a week to journalism—celebrating courage, truth, and the people behind the headlines? Our Peace Building team had the privilege of joining the Prix Bayeux Calvados-Normandie, one of the world’s most renowned awards for war and conflict reporting.

 

 

 

Students participated in the audience vote for the most impactful war report, explored powerful exhibitions such as Édouard Elias’ “Syria, Year 0” and Julia Kochetowa’s “War is Personal”, and attended an inspiring UNHCR meeting with Mursal Sayas and Sylla Assa Badiallo, who shared their experiences of displacement and their fight for human rights.
The day concluded with an emotional performance by Ukrainian singer Elizabeth Kostiakina—a moving reminder of the human stories behind global conflicts.
