D-Day festivities in Ste Contest
-
Reflecting on our visit to Ste Contest, Caen, for the 80th D-Day anniversary. We participated in a moving memorial service honoring the fallen veterans of the D-Day landings. Our students laid wreaths alongside politicians like MEP Stephanie Yoncourtin, and heartfelt speeches were delivered. Our role: gratitude, enthusiasm and recognition. The ceremony was musically accompanied by Scottish bagpipers. Another highlight was the ceremonial presentation of the Franco-German Tree of Peace in Ste Contest.

Under the D-Day motto "We will remember them," D-Day was celebrated and the countless victims of WWII were remembered. The poignant stories of 10 veterans were recalled through presentations by French and German students working in tandem. The mayor thanked the students for their dedication to honoring the war veterans. The residents of Ste Contest also warmly welcomed the guests and expressed their gratitude for the students' contributions.
